Good Questions

Library Card FAQs

Q: Is a library card really free?

Yes — completely. There is no cost to obtain or maintain your Washington County Public Library card.

Q: Who can get a library card?

Library cards are available to everyone. Whether you’re a lifelong Washington County resident or new to the area, you’re welcome here.

Q: What do I need to bring?

Just a valid document showing your current address — a driver’s license, utility bill, or similar document works great.

Q: Can my child get a library card?

Absolutely! Stop by the library and a staff member will be happy to get your little one set up with their very own card. Your child’s account is linked to a parent or guardian’s account, so there’s always an adult on record who’s responsible for items and any fees.

Q: What if I lose my card?

Lost cards happen. Stop by the library and we’ll issue you a new one for a $5.00 fee.
